This decorative concrete project for Cary Grant's best friend was crazy and out-of-the-box.
When you're doing a project for a friend, sometimes you have a lot more leeway as to how you go about it. This was one of those projects!
The entire floor had been covered by a commercial-grade carpet, which was removed and then the concrete substrate was grinded down.
The fish piece above was drawn in freehand, then stained with acid stain. The white, red and black parts of the fish were airbrushed with regular paint. We used L. M. Scofield Company's LITHOCHROME® Chemstain™ Classic throughout this whole project.
For the star, we used four colors of Chemstain: Copper Patina, Padre Brown, Dark Walnut and Faded Terracotta.
The Osmosis logo was done by projecting the dragon image and then cutting it in with a 4" diamond blade, then chipping in the black Chemstain. Osmosis logo is Faded Terracotta.
The Choppers for Life and dice images were also done freehand. One interesting technique here is that the flames behind the dice were stained and sealed, then we went back in with a diamond blade and shaped lines into the flames to give it more detail.
