Project Name: Designer Show House for Virtua Health Foundation

Architectural Concrete Design was chosen to design and install all of the paving around this opulent designer home.

A French country villa was created for the 2006 Virtua Hospital designer show house. The 18,000 sq.ft. Whittington, a 21 room, eight bath estate home, was being built by Moorestown resident William Burris, who graciously offered the home for a month long open house to benefit the Virtua Foundation.

A grand entrance drive leads to a circular turn around, guest parking and a private parking court beyond the port cochere. The elegant driveway and parking courts employ two stamped concrete patterns from L. M. Scofield Company: LITHOTEX® Pavecrafters® Cobblestone Running Bond and Limestone European Fan. Radiating from a central planting island, the fan pattern is framed by delicately curving Cobblestone Soldier Border. The same paving pattern that graces the Champs Elysee in Paris seemed fitting for the stately Whittington. It was colored with LITHOCHROME® Color Hardener in Platinum Gray, and LITHOCHROME® Antiquing Release in Deep Charcoal color. Visitors were continually surprised and delighted to discover all of these expensive paving materials were skillfully mimicked with concrete!

The swimming pool terrace along with the front and side porches, were all constructed by ACD, utilizing various imprinted concrete patterns. ACD designers selected a classic flagstone pattern for the pool deck and porches, and coordinated these areas by using a mixture of LITHOCHROME® Color Hardener in Steadman Buff (90%) and Terra Cotta (10%) to repeat the warm tan and terra cotta colors found in the stone and brick facades of the home. Classic Gray LITHOCHROME® Antiquing Release was used to provide the finishing touch of color.
