Project Name: Team Toyota

Decorative concrete was selected by the architects to enhance the front entrance of this new Toyota dealership.

A canopied drop off court is the dominant architectural feature of this contemporary building. Architectural Concrete Design used an 24" x 24" Fractured Slate single stone pattern from L. M. Scofield Company in the drop off area to repeat the square theme seen in windows and brushed steel siding panels.

The squares were laid on a diagonal throughout the canopied area, but turned parallel to the building to accentuate pedestrian walkway areas. For added definition, a stamped brick soldier course was colored using LITHOCHROME® Color Hardener in a Dark Red color to border the main entrance walk, which cuts through the drop off area. LITHOCHROME® Antiquing Release was used in Classic Gray to accentuate the color depth.

The Fractured Slate pattern in Stone Gray (also with Classic Gray Antiquing Release) continues around the side of the building into an automobile display area. Again, the square pattern was turned on a 45 degree angle, and red brick border was added to create a framed ‘stage’ for a featured auto. Wire mesh, installed within the concrete throughout, connects to a state-of-the-art heating system which warms the slab to prevent snow and ice accumulation in winter. Poured concrete proves a perfect medium for use with such integral heating systems due to its excellent conductivity and heat retention.
