Project Name: The Shops at Saucon Valley
Stanbery Development and Poag & McEwen Lifestyle
Centers formed a joint venture to create Lehigh Valley,
Pennsylvania’s first and only lifestyle center.
ACD took on the challenge of creating upscale, yet
classic paving for the storefronts, walkways, crosswalks
and feature areas to make The Shops at Saucon Valley
Pennsylvania’s flagship to the lifestyle center concept.
ACD utilized various textures from L. M. Scofield Company's LITHOTEX® Pavecrafters® line of imprinting tools and embossing skins, including an old world
Limestone - European Fan pattern, as well as
Fractured Slate and
Rock Salt embossing skins that create seamless textures to borders and featured areas. These seamless texture mats allowed
ACD to create the look and feel of natural stones,
which had been custom cut to occupy larger areas
where natural stones would not have been appropriate
or even possible.
ACD took advantage of LITHOCHROME® Color Hardener
which takes standard concrete mixes well beyond their
normal durability and life expectancy by the
introduction of ground aggregates -- namely, silica sand,
to its pigmented cements. These color hardeners
increase the surfaces durability and abrasion resistance
upwards of three times that of typical concrete
applications.
The colors selected were hand picked to give the
warmth and pedestrian friendly environment this
lifestyle center required to flatter all who visit with its
extraordinary appeal.
By using a base color hardener of Steadman Buff, and
flashing a reddish brown Russet color hardener, ACD
took the opportunity to showcase their talent and
experience of being one of the largest and premier
installers in the country. A liquid release or “bond
break” was utilized to allow the newly constructed
storefronts to be a dust free environment and allowing
the flashing of the color hardeners to give an antiqued
or mottled effect, which shines through quite nicely and
with great success.
